Dermal Fillers

Rejuvenate Your Skin

Dermal fillers are a gel-like substance that is injected under the skin. Once injected, dermal fillers help restore volume to the face, smooth out lines, and soften the face. They can also be used to enhance certain facial features like the lips and cheeks. Dermal fillers are one of our most popular facial rejuvenation treatments. They offer a more cost-effective and less invasive way to enhance your face’s appearance without painful surgery or a long recovery.

Also known as wrinkle fillers, dermal fillers are an excellent way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles while improving your facial symmetry. With this treatment you can easily enhance get that plump pout you’ve always wanted! Dermal Fillers can also eliminate chin creases, vertical lip lines and improve or restore the face’s volume overall.

DERMAL FILLERS FAQs

Dermal fillers are used to treat those lines that remain on the face even when it’s relaxed also known as “static lines” and for facial contouring. Treatment areas can include:

  • Tear troughs (eye bags)
  • Nose (also known as liquid rhinoplasty or non-surgical nose job)
  • Cheeks
  • Marionette lines (which extend from the corners of the mouth down to the chin)
  • Nasolabial folds (lines either side of the nose)
  • Lips (most common use by our patients)
  • Chin and jawline
  • The backs of the hands
  • The neck

The treatment time will depend on the area being injected and how much filler is needed. Generally, for our team of experienced aestheticians, dermal filler treatments are quick, taking less than 15 minutes. For more intensive filler treatments the procedure can take about 30 minutes to an hour.

Keep in mind if the area requires a numbing cream to be used, you will have to wait about 20 minutes for it to kick in before the treatment begins.

The side effects of dermal fillers are pretty minimal and usually disappear soon after the treatment – they typically last a few days. They include things like:

  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Minor bleeding near the injection points.

You might also experience some bruising, but our aesthetic experts will recommend the right post-treatment products to keep side effects at bay.

In most of our patients we’ve noticed no downtime following a filler treatment, so you’ll be able to resume your plans as usual. Any side effects you may encounter should clear up within a few days of your treatment.

But you might want to clear your calendar of important events until any signs of redness, swelling and bruising have disappeared.

The most common types of dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, including the popular brands Juvéderm and Restylane. Hyaluronic acid is often favoured over other filler substances because it can be dissolved (with an enzyme called hyaluronidase) if anything goes wrong with the treatment or if the client doesn’t like the results.

Another plus of hyaluronic acid is that it’s a naturally occurring molecule found in the skin, which means it’s a safe material that’s well-received by the body.
