Electrolysis
Electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method that is both globally and medically authorised by Health Canada and the FDA. It is appropriate for all skin tones and hair colours……even white hair.
How does electrolysis work?
Electrolysis treats each hair individually with a very fine, disposable, sterile probe. A probe which is the approximate thickness of the hair is inserted into the hair follicle (which is a natural opening in the skin); then a very small amount of energy is discharged into the hair follicle. This results in the coagulation of the blood supply to the hair and the destruction of the root using heat (thermolysis), chemical (galvanic) or both (blend).
How does electrolysis work?
Except for the interior of the nose and inner ear, electrolysis may be used to treat almost every area of the body. Upper lip, chin, neck, cheeks, breasts, bikini line, legs, brows and underarms are frequent treatment areas.
What is the difference between laser & electrolysis?
Laser typically treats large regions of skin using a laser or light-based lamp, which can inhibit hair growth but does not completely eradicate all hair. Laser hair removal works only if the hair is darker than the person’s skin tone, therefore it won’t work on very blonde or white hair, but electrolysis can treat all hair colors.
Permanent hair removal using electrolysis takes a lengthier course of sessions than laser but results in full and permanent hair removal.
In certain situations, laser can encourage additional hair growth, particularly if the client has
hormonal disorders like PCOS or hirsutism; this is known as paradoxical hypertrichosis.

Electrolysis is the only kind of hair removal that is completely permanent, so while it may appear to be a significant time and financial investment, there is a payoff! Unlike any other hair removal procedure you will use for the rest of your life. When you pull the hair from the root, the body interprets this as an attack on the follicle and will strive to build up the follicle and make it stronger, creating thicker and stronger hairs – terrifying eh! Laser is a decrease at best, but it can also stimulate hair growth. When you consider the alternatives, it’s a no-brainer!
Many variables impact hair growth, and the time of each consultation as well as the number of treatments required will differ from person to person. The length of treatment depends on hair density, hair texture, the region being treated, previous hair removal methods utilized, and how effectively the skin recovers between treatments.
It is worthwhile to invest in electrolysis since it is a permanent method of hair removal that treats each follicle individually to eliminate the follicle. We must keep in mind that even if we kill the hair follicles from the hairs we see, there are other latent follicles under the skin that will sprout; hair does not grow all at once, so you will need to have every hair treated; this is a waiting game.
There may be some redness, localized swelling or mosquito bite bumps for a short period of time particularly if extensive work has been done. Some clients may also get some small pin prick scabbing, this is completely normal and must not be picked by the client. Usually any reaction is
gone within an hour or two or might linger a bit longer.
Electrolysis has been around since 1875, although it has definitely been improved since then! Itis a completely safe procedure.
When done correctly, Electrolysis does not damage the skin. During your consultation we will go through aftercare procedures with you, this will ensure that you know how to take care of your skin after your treatment.
